Practical, friendly, down to earth Mindfulness--Based Courses to support your capacity for thriving and being free of the effects of stress, pain and illness.
I am an MBSR & MBCT teacher and a registered nurse.I believe that mindfulness-based courses have the power to support us to transform our lives to be healthier and more satisfying.
As a registered nurse with over 20 years experience, ten of which as a specialist nurse in hypertension supporting people with or at risk of cardiovascular disease, I am passionate about helping people to take care of themselves and reduce their risk of living with stress, unhappiness and illness.
In addition to running Down to Earth I am completing a Masters in Teaching Mindfulness at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Nursing (cardiovascular pathway) and offer a clinical supervision service to registered nurses and health care teams.
My varied nursing career has given me a rounded view of the challenges people face across the age spectrum, after spending several years in School Nursing
I live in Manchester and am married with two children, a Golden Retriever called Charlie and a ginger cat named Lola.
Im very proud of taking up running in my late forties after years of telling myself a story that I can't & won't run, other than that I enjoy all the usual stuff.
Mindfulness is an intentional, present moment awareness of things as they actually are.
We spend much of our lives in our heads, thinking about the past or the future, wishing things were different to how they actually are. This can make us feel low, worried and effect our physical or emotional health and well-being. Developing a mindfulness practice is a way of redressing the balance and can provide enormously helpful new ways of dealing with life's challenges.
